freedom

These things have happened in the United States. A man was arrested for criticizing Dick Cheney to his face. He was charged with assault . This was in Colorado. A man was arrested for flying an upside down American flag . This was in Iowa. A man was arrested for wearing a t-shirt that said "give peace a chance" in a mall. This was in New York State. A man was arrested for wearing a Veterans For Peace t-shirt in a V.A. Medical Center. The man was a veteran. Illinois. A man was arrested for holding a sign reading "Honk if you want Bush Out". Michigan. A 15 year old boy was arrested and assaulted by a police officer and two security guards after refusing to remove a t-shirt with the words "stop snitching" on the front, and "you have the right to remain silent" on the back. The police officers used mace. Maryland. A man who fought for the rights of airport baggage screeners was visited at home by the FBI and questioned about terrorism. Californ...

thanksgiving

It's my second Thanksgiving in Canada. Last year my mother was here, her first visit to our new home, but the holiday timing was a coincidence. It still doesn't feel like a holiday, but then, we rarely celebrated Thanksgiving in the US either. I'm thankful for more than I can ever express. I don't need a special day to remind me of that. But it's lovely to have an extra day off, and if I'm smart, I'll force myself away from the photo project and go outside. Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadian readers. Enjoy your day!

ack

All my photos are gone! Every photo on this blog has disappeared. Because I'm no longer using Blogger hosting, and Blogger was hosting all those photos, they have vanished into the ether. A few were hosted at Photobucket, and those remain. 99% of them were hosted by Blogger. Oh boy. Guess what I'm doing tomorrow.

protest

Our friend Crabbi has a report and photos from World Can't Wait in San Francisco. Other friend of wmtc reports are in this thread . Anyone see anything in any mainstream media? I saw nothing. Nah, the media isn't complicit in people's ignorance. Not much.

beta

Guess what? Blogger Beta does not support FTP; Beta Blogs can only be hosted by Blogspot. Which means no Beta upgrade for wmtc! There's a rumour that Blogger is going to pull the plug on FTP hosting altogether. All blogs would have to switch to Beta and use Blogspot addreses, or lose access to the software. This would be pretty stupid on Google's part, as everyone with their own domain name (including me) would immediately switch to Wordpress. However, this may be an unfounded rumour. According to Blogger , Beta Blogger will eventually support FTP, it just doesn't yet. So I won't worry about it at this point. This does mean that the wmtc redesign will have to work within the original Blogger templates. Hopefully the talented designer who did the wmtc book will come up with something great within that framework.

lies

More brilliance from Keith Olbermann. Take 11 minutes of your day to be moved, angered and inspired. * * * * The next time you reflexively dismiss so-called "conspiracy theories" about 9/11, please ask yourself a few questions. Why, despite knowing that these people have lied about everything else, do I trust that they have been truthful about 9/11? Why, when 9/11 is the singular event that has enabled the Bush junta free reign to pursue its overtly anti-democratic agenda, should we not question their version of the event itself - despite the fact that they have never presented one bit of evidence to back it up? Why, knowing what I do about American history, and how many people, including American citizens, have been sacrificed for wars of profit and ideology, am I unwilling to even entertain the idea that certain people within the American government would sacrifice a few thousand people to further their own goals? As my partner became active in the 9/11 Truth Movement, I ...
